Understanding Billing Dates & Proration (UTC Time)
Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to help you understand when your service starts, how billing is timed, and how parietal month charges (proration) are calculated.
Time Zone Conversion Chart
Camvio records all billing events in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Use this chart to compare your local time zone to UTC.

Billing Date Options Explained
Camvio uses four UTC-based date options to determine when your billing begins. Here’s what each one Means:
Start of Bill Cycle (UTC)
Example: 2025-06-01 00:00:01 UTC
Service starts on the 1st of the month
You’ll be charged:
● A prorated amount for the current month
● The full charge for the next month
Next Bill Cycle (UTC)
Example: 2025-05-31 23:59:59 UTC
Service begins at the very end of the month
You are not charged for the current month
First full charge applies to the next month
Apply On (UTC)
Example: 2025-05-22 18:34:55 UTC
Timestamp when your order is confirmed and provisioned in the system
Exact time matters for proration and service alignment
Selected Date (UTC)
Example: 2025-05-15 00:00:01 UTC
Service starts on a specific date you choose
Activation time is always set to the start of that day (UTC)
How These Dates Affect Proration
Proration means you only pay for the part of the month you use.
The same logic applies when canceling service. Credits depend on which UTC date/time is chosen.
How Prorations Works
Proration = (Monthly Rate ÷ Days in Month) × Days of Service Used
Example 1: Mid-Month Plan Change
Scenario:
● $100/month plan → upgraded on the 15th
● Month has 30 days
● Old Plan: Days 1–14
● New Plan: Days 15–30
Calculation:
● Old Plan:
$100 ÷ 30 = $3.33/day → 14 × $3.33 = $46.67
Credit for unused days: 16 × $3.33 = –$53.33
● New Plan (assume $150):
$150 ÷ 30 = $5.00/day → 16 × $5.00 = $80.00
Final Bill:
$46.67 – $53.33 + $80.00 = $73.34
Example 2: Service Cancellation
Scenario:
● $120/month plan
● Canceled on Day 20 of a 31-day month
Calculation:
● $120 ÷ 31 = $3.87/day
● 20 days × $3.87 = $77.42
Final Bill:
You only pay $77.42 instead of the full $120
